Created by Norman Hartnell, the Queen’s coronation dress was commissioned in October 1952 and took eight months to complete.

Marc Jacobs made public transport absolutely stylish at Paris Fashion Week by delivering his beautiful models and their beautiful clothes on a sumptuous, little train.

It was a natural approach to take, indeed in 1858 Louis Vuitton introduced his flat trunks with trianon canvas that were very successful and prestigious.

As for the collection, it is as inspired and exceptionally crafted as ever.  Completely imaginative, highlighting all that is beyond compare about history and all that is essential in style and fashion today.

My favourite looks are:

Rooney Mara wearing Givenchy.  Detailed, utterly beautiful and probably my favourite.

Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford.  Simple, stylish, appropriate and correct.

Michelle Williams wearing Louis Vuitton.  A daring colour and cut.  Very pretty detail.  Original and memorable.

Octavia Spencer wearing Tadashi Shoji.  This dress was meant for Octavia; she wore it very, very well and I always love the sparkle on the red carpet.

Meryl Streep wearing Lanvin.  Edith Head once said “You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.”  I believe Meryl Streep had this in mind when she chose her gown of sun-light and star-sparkle.  Meryl reminded us all that she plays the part very well of the Iron Lady and she will always be our Golden Lady; forever and always inspiring and impressing us.

I have just seen Giambattista Valli’s second Spring 2012 couture collection and I adore it.  Essence of gorgeous 1950’s texture and detail but with a very current, sexy, feminine and pretty kind of magic throughout.

“Froth, lace & ribbon” Vogue.

Floor level lighting, chic, sleek, smooth numbered seats, a slatted roof to reveal a bright sky, emergency exits, a cockpit and a bar cart, of course.  Not a stylish private jet, but close. 

‘Air Chanel’ was the set for Karl Lagerfeld’s couture collection for this season.

After all the ‘passengers’ were seated, the show began and introduced visions of another world.  Many shades of sky blue, black and grey were used to present brand new ideas for the future. 

Perhaps the scene influenced the eye but the theme certainly seemed to enthuse images of old airline uniforms.  Jewelled textures and unusual layering made sure the audience were not distracted from the show.

For Christmas, this year, I received the album Help! by The Beatles.  I am so excited to play it.  I think even the old records can seem new to me when I haven’t listened to them in a while and can be more antisipated than a new album I haven’t heard before because I know I will enjoy it; there is a garantee of no disappointment!

Also, and even better, I can sing-along to the songs because I already know all the words!
